01 / The story

A city full of possibility.

DUST means Douglas Urban Skate Trail. A collection of pocket places around Douglas, Arizona, each with a story of its own.

The idea starts at street level: a place to skate, a place to stop, a reason to explore. Theatre, aviation, railroad history, and the everyday life of Douglas become the material for new possibilities.

Dusty . Ink is the open notebook. Follow the sketches, explore the concept studies, and help shape what comes next.

One trail. Many stories.

BMX + skate / 1225 G Avenue

The Slab

A worn raised dealership slab becomes a garden skate spot: manual pads, rails, a small bowl, planted grind ledges, BMX rollers, sculptural shade, and a solar-topped container shop.

Theatre / Downtown

Grand Theatre

Film-inspired sculptures and a compact skate feature bring the theatre’s story into the street.

Aviation / Reuse

Runway Zero / Pista Cero

Reclaimed aircraft wings become shade. Cockpit seating and runway-inspired features tell an aviation story.

Railroad / Reuse

The Spur / El Ramal

A salvaged rail, freight-panel art, and a place to gather connect skating with railroad heritage.

Copper / Gadsden corner

The Ingot / El Lingote

A copper-inspired skateable feature explores a small corner near the Gadsden Hotel.

Rest / Walk it

Depot Rest Stop

A pause along the trail: shade, seating, and a place to rest. This concept is a walk-only stop.

Connection / Gathering

Port Plaza

A compass-centered gathering concept with shade and low ledges in an illustrative public-side setting.

All images depict proposed concept studies. Locations, feature placement, and materials are illustrative.

DUST notebook studies of rail, shade, and reuse

What makes a spot worth stopping at?

A feature you want to ride. Shade when you need a break. A detail that belongs to Douglas. The sketchbook is where those ideas meet.

01 Reuse with a purpose.

02 Make space for skating and gathering.

03 Give every stop its own story.

04 / The pitch

Small places.
Shared ambition.

A trail that brings skating, local identity, and creative reuse together.

DUST invites a conversation between skaters, neighbors, local organizations, and potential partners. These studies are a starting point for that conversation.
